Core Digital was established in 1993. We are based in Fourways and have a branch in Pretoria as well. Core Digital consists of graphic designers, manufacturers, installers and project managers of identity and signage solutions for the commercial, industrial and retail sectors.

The most common material that we use for outdoor signage is chromadek (0.6mm metal board) as well as flexface (350gram per m² PVC canvass that is stretched over a 50mm square tubing frame).

The popularity of the PVC option is growing fast, because it's lighter and there are no seams, as in the case of chromadek boards. The welds on bigger signs are neat. The bigger signs, like the one erected next to our highways is manufactured of PVC and not chromadek board.


Lifespan of Signs

As a rule, the lifespan of the structure is longer than the digital printwork itself. Digital printed signs usually start to fade after a period of +/-18 months, while a more durable vinyl will be acceptable for approxamitly 6 years.

Outdoor digital prints on chromadek will keep +/-6months longer when laminated with a clear vinyl. (+/-R100 per square metre).

Chromadek Signs

We supply a full in-house Chromadek Signs solution. Be noticed by all passing traffic and potential customers. Poles, frames and installation 1.)  Chromadek, 0.6mm thick and printed at 1400 dpi on a monomeric sticker: R430 per m² 2.)  Chromadek mounted on a 25mm square tubing frame: R630 m² 3.)  Lamination of chromadek signs (recommendable): R120 m² 4.)  Aluminium angle iron border –25mm: R40 per meter     –50mm: R80 per meter 5.)  A 0.6mm chromadek board laminated 2450 x 1225mm, mounted on a 25mm square tubing frame rounded of with a 25mm aluminium angle iron border: R2544 excluding VAT. The cost on the erection of this board on x2 76mm square tubing poles of 3 metres in length is an additional R1260. This brings the total price to R3840 excluding VAT Prices of poles (per metre): Painted double layers, with 2 x 10mm holes or brackets, ready for installation. Square tubing poles are available from 12mm to 100mm, in 3 different wall thicknesses. The wall thickness of these poles can range between 1.6, 2 and 3mm. The thickness and wall thickness can be combined to fit the size and weight of the board. Lamination of chromadek signs is highly recommended. It protects the signs against vandalism, scratches, against damage from the sun, etc. Installation Outdoor signs in Pretoria and Johannesburg: +/- R200 per square meter. How can designs be supplied to us?

We employ highly skilled graphic designers to produce high quality designs and layouts. This service is priced at R350 per hour. Most businesses that have already printed business cards, pamphlets or any other advertisement material and already paid designing fees. You can bring the designs to us and we will charge no additional costs. If you supply the artwork, it can be given in the following formats:

Corel draw (Original artwork)
Vector
Editable PDF from the original artwork
Freehand x10 (Original artwork)
Certain files, especially big files that will be used for banners or advertising boards, can be sent at 100% of the measurements with 72 dpi, or 50% of the measurement with 150 dpi.

What is the turnaround time?

5 to 7 working days after the artwork has been finalised.

What is the life span of signs?

The structure of chromadek and flexface signs is guaranteed for 5 years. As for full colour digital printing on chromadek or flexface the printing will start to fade after 12 - 18 months.
Chromadek signs that were made with the highest quality cast vinyl will last up to 10 years. It is statistically proven that the average business in South Africa changes information such as its name, physical address, postal address and telephone numbers every 20 months, so it is not advised to consider the most expensive option.
